Classic Solid Fuel Stoves

Coal Burning Stoves

Coal, Coke or smokeless fuel burns best on a raised grate which allows air to reach the underside of the fuel.

The stoves often have a riddling mechanism to shake the ash into a removable ashpan. Coal comes in small lumps which can be fed into the burning area from either the top or the front. To burn coal or coke in a dedicated wood burning stove a stool grate with large holes/slots is required to allow air flow to the bottom of the fuel.
